High Pressure Well Jetting

High pressure jetting is a process that is used on well screens and on rock wells that have a high bio-foul build up on the walls such as iron slime. By using our specially designed jetting tool with a self rotating nozzle head we are able to get complete well and/ or screen coverage allowing us to completely rid the screen or rock wall of encrustation and bio-foul. Another benefit is that during the process the majority of material that is removed is brought to the surface of the well allowing for collection and disposal of this material.

The process involves moving our jetting tool repeatedly up and down the rock wall or across the well screen while injecting water at a rate of about 40 gpm @ 1,200 psi. Because our tool has a rotating nozzle head it is guaranteed to cover the entire surface of the screen or wall. Normally we will use 3,600 gallons per well during this process ensuring that we have complete coverage. During the process the excess material that has been removed from the well or screen is discharged out of the top of the well and collected allowing us to monitor our progress. We know that we have completely cleaned the well or screen when the water coming out of the well is no longer dirty.

High pressure well jetting can be performed on wells ranging in size from 4" - 36" in diameter. We are capable of performing this process as deep as 1,500 feet and have successfully worked in wells that have produced over 200 gpm.

Our specialized jetting reel with jetting tool. This allows us to clean the entire well or screen completely and efficiently. In general we can jet a 6" diameter 600' well in approximately 45 minutes.
This picture shows what the discharged water looks like while jetting a well that a high iron content in it. This particular well took almost an hour before the water finally cleared up, letting us know that we had completely cleaned the well.
This diversion system is what allows us to collect the dirty water so we can dispose of it away from the well.

This is a picture of what having an iron problem can do to the inside of your water system. Although it's not harmful this build up not only restricts the flow of water to your house but is also what leaves that light orange ring in the bath tub or toilet.

Not only does this build up occur in the piping but it also occurs in the fractures in the well restricting the flow of water into your well.

In a situation like this where the iron content is so high the major bio-fouling occurs chemical treatment and hydro-fracturing of the well may also be recommended in order to keep the problem from quickly re-occurring.
